A Winter Evening Vigil Mass
The evening sky is cold and bright,
Stars flicker in the hush of night.
A silver frost adorns the ground,
As church bells call with solemn sound.
Through quiet lanes and fields of white,
We walk by lantern’s gentle light.
A glow ahead—soft, warm, and near,
The house of God, we hold so dear.
The wooden door swings open wide,
And welcomes all who step inside.
A breath of incense, rich and sweet,
Where Heaven and the earth do meet.
The candles flicker, golden, high,
Their flames like prayer rise to the sky.
The organ hums, the voices blend,
As hearts and souls in praise ascend.
The priest in vestments, white and bold,
Proclaims glad tidings, ever old.
The Gospel’s light, so pure and bright,
Cuts through the longest winter night.
The chalice raised, the host divine,
A sacred gift, our Bread and Wine.
With folded hands and bended knee,
We taste the love that sets us free.
Outside, the snow falls soft and deep,
Yet in this place, no cold may creep.
For Christ is here—our hope, our grace,
Within this warm and holy space.
The final hymn, the blessing said,
We step into the night ahead.
But in our hearts, His peace will stay,
To guide us on the narrow way.
