My Lord’s love has always been there for me.
My Lord’s love was already there for me before the beginning of time when He knew me and what my life would become (Jeremiah 1:5).
My Lord’s love was there for me at the moment of creation (Genesis 1:27).
My Lord’s love was there for me at the moment of my birth (Psalm 139:13–14).
My Lord’s love was there for me at my baptism—His grace and sacrifice washing away the stain of original sin with which I was born (Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21).
My Lord’s love was there for me throughout my childhood, protecting me and guiding me to the age I am now (Psalm91:11).
My Lord’s love was there for me when I was ill - encouraging me and healing me (James 5:14–15).
My Lord’s love was there for me in my moments of joy—reminding me that all love and joy come from Him (John 15:11).
My Lord’s love was there for me in the difficult times of my life - supporting me and carrying me through the dark tunnel into the light (Psalm 23:4).
My Lord’s love has always been there for me.
I confess now to you, my brothers and sisters,
that my love has not always been there, is not always there, and will
not always be there for Him (Romans 7:15).
My love is not there for my Lord each time I sin (John 14:15
1 John 2:4)
Yes, my Lord’s love is, and always was, there for me.
But my sins were there too…
My sins were there the moment Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6).
My sins were there when our Lord realised who He was and what agonies He was to endure - yes, for my sins (Luke 2:49, Matthew 26:38–39).
My sins were there on the ground in the Garden of Gethsemane, among the drops of blood my Lord sweated in anguish (Luke22:44).
My sins were there as Judas led armed soldiers to the garden to arrest the innocent, harmless, and gentle Lamb (Matthew26:47–50).
My sins were there as Judas betrayed my Lord with a kiss (Luke 22:48).
My sins were there as the apostles, the closest friends of Jesus, abandoned Him during His arrest (Mark 14:50).
My sins were there when Peter denied my Lord three times (Luke 22:61–62).
My sins were there as false accusations were hurled at my Lord by the Pharisees (Matthew 26:59–60).
My sins were there as punches, spittle, and profanities rained down upon Him by the soldiers (Matthew 26:67–68).
My sins were there with every lash of the scourging that tore into the flesh of my Lord (John 19:1).
My sins were there on every spike of the crown of thorns forced upon His head (Matthew 27:29).
My sins were there as my Lord stood before the crowd - many who had waved palm fronds in worship only a week before - now calling for His crucifixion (John 19:15).
My sins were there as my Lord took that heavy cross and began His journey to Calvary (John 19:17).
My sins were there in every splinter from that rugged cross stabbing into my Lord’s hands and shoulders.
My sins were there as the soldiers continued whipping my Lord, urging Him to walk faster lest He die along the Via Crucis (Luke 23:26).
My sins were there each time my Lord fell to the ground under the weight of that cross - and the weight of all our sins, including mine (Isaiah 53:4–5).
My sins were there when my Lord met with our Blessed Mother (Luke 2:34–35).
My sins were there as the sword of sorrow pierced my Blessed Mother’s heart (Luke 2:35).
My sins were there as the women wept for my Lord (Luke 23:27–28).
My sins were there as the soldiers stripped my Lord, exacerbating the scourge and other wounds on His body (Matthew27:35).
My sins were there with every pounding of the hammer onto the nails driven into my Lord’s limbs as they crucified Him (Luke 23:33).
My sins were there as some of the crowd continued mocking my Lord while He, at the same time, prayed to the Father to forgive them (Luke 23:34, 39).
My sins were in that sponge soaked in sour wine and gall (Matthew 27:48).
My sins were there as my Lord noticed His weeping Mother among the crowd (John 19:26–27).
My sins were there as my Lord died on that rugged cross (Matthew 27:50).
My sins were there when the spear was driven into my Lord’s side - into His lungs and heart (John 19:34).
My sins were there as blood and water flowed from my Lord’s wound (John 19:34).
My sins were there with all the sorrow of my Lord’s followers as they wept while His body was taken down from the cross to be buried (Luke 23:55).
My sins were there next to the neatly folded shroud and head cloth in that empty tomb on Easter Sunday (John 20:6–7).... and so was the love of my Lord for me!
Yes, my sins were there…
… and yet my Lord’s love is always with me (Romans 8:38–39).
… and yet...
... I still sin... (1 John 1:8–9 Romans 7:15-20 )...
Lord Jesus Son of God, Have Mercy On Me, A Sinner
